Winter Park is a lovely suburban city located just north of Orlando, Orange County, Florida. The city was originally founded as a resort community in the late 19th century and has evolved to become an upscale, bedroom community for Central Florida. Winter Park is also the 102nd largest community in the state with a population of approximately 29,000 residents. Winter Parkers enjoy water activities, golf, art galleries, country clubs and dining and shopping. Winter Park is home to Rollins College a 4-year undergraduate co-ed college ranked for 22 years by U.S News and World Report as either #1 or #2 Top Regional Universities in the south. (1996-2017). A chain of lakes connected by scenic canals stretches from Winter Park north to the adjoining town of Maitland. A tour of the lakes is available every hour from a dock on Morse Blvd. just east of Interlachen Ave. 



The city is served by the Orange County Public School District and provides educational opportunities for students in Pre-Kindergarten through grade 12. The district and the schools are highly rated by teachers, parents, students and educational professionals. The teacher to student ratio is low and averages 14 to 1 and the district provides more money per students than the national and state average. 

For those interested in higher education Winter Park is home to Rollins College founded in 1885 by New Englanders who settled in the area. Today it is a 4 year undergraduate and graduate school to over 2,500 students. The Crummer Graduate School of Business is ranked as a top Business School in the country. The undergraduate school is also consistently ranked by U.S. News and World Report as a Top Regional University. For the student interested in a digital education Winter Park is home to Full Sail University. Full Sail prepares students for a career in media and entertainment. Orlando is home to Central Florida University, one of the largest universities in the country. The school is located approximately 6 miles east of Winter Park and has an excellent academic reputation. Stetson University in nearby in Deland, Fl. is also a highly regarded university.  The schools offer a variety of career-oriented programs and degrees, both undergraduate and advanced degrees.

Property in Winter Park is generally higher in price than other areas of Orlando. Single-family homes are the predominant type of dwellings. Condominiums and townhouses are popular close to Park Ave. for people to dine and shop on Park Ave., a street with trendy shopping, stores and restaurants. Many of the homes are custom built and contain many amenities not typically found in a standard home. Homes on the Winter Park Chain of Lakes are the premium properties. These homes sell for $2-$11 million. These elegant homes are located directly on the lakes.

The premier park is along the main street of Park Ave. The park is called Central Park and is home to many civic events or quiet afternoons. Facilities include fields and courts to accommodate many types of sports, playgrounds and appropriate age tot lots, nature trails and hiking and bicycling paths. The department also offers pavilions for rent. The rental facilities are ideal for neighborhood, family or corporate celebrations. Some of the pavilions offer electrical connections by request. The department also offers meeting rooms for rent and facilities equipped with commercial grade kitchens.

Attractions, Activities, and Events

Winter Park and the surrounding area are home to a variety of attractions, activities, and events. Residents will appreciate the Morse Museum of American Art and the Albin Polasek Museum and Sculpture Garden. Rollins College also has a wonderful museum on campus, The Cornell Museum. Gardens, boat tours and a variety of water-related activities are also available. Residents will also be able to experience holiday and seasonal celebrations, charitable events, music festivals and food festivals for foodies and Farmers Markets. Some of the community events include Winter Park Autumn Art Festival, Winter in the Park Holiday Ice Skating Party, Dinner on the Avenue and road races.
